The pack is designed to meet the requirements of open abdominal surgery (laparotomy) and includes:
- Laparotomy Drape: A main drape with an abdominal fenestration (opening), often reinforced with absorbent material for fluid control.
- Surgical Gowns: High-protection, breathable gowns for the surgical team.
- Back Table Cover/Mayo Stand Cover: Sterile covers to set up the sterile field.
- Instrument Protection: Adhesive tape, sponges, and towels for bleeding control.
- Material: Usually made of non-woven materials such as SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond), SMMS, or PE+PP, which are fluid-resistant, breathable, and lint-free.
- Sterilization: EO (Ethylene Oxide) sterilized, with a sterile shelf life of up to 36 months.
